Donald L. & Jean M. Smith Charitable Fund
Don and Jean believed in working together to improve their community.
Today their charitable fund continues to support the Kewaunee community
The Donald L Smith & Jean M Smith Charitable Fund is used to benefit the City of Kewaunee and surrounding area. The specific purposes include: building community, promoting civic engagement through collaboration, and fostering leadership and volunteerism.
The fund assisted in the completion of the Donald L. and Jean M. Smith Lighthouse Park; projects fostering community and promoting quality of life for seniors; promoting fitness, especially senior fitness; supporting operations of a community/senior center; supporting grant writing for the community and local non-profits. The fund may also support community projects that benefit the broader population.
Pursuant to the last will of Jean M. Smith, the fund shall not be used for children’s projects or projects where children will be the main beneficiaries. This fund is operated exclusively for charitable purposes under 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code, or corresponding section of any future federal tax code.

About Jean
Jean M. Smith, of Kewaunee, died Sunday, January 21, 2018 at Aurora Hospital in Green Bay. She was born November 18,1928 in Two Rivers, Wisconsin to the late Julius and Olga Le Mere.
Jean married Donald L. Smith June 26,1948 in Two Rivers, and they moved to Kewaunee in 1964.
She was a member of the Kewaunee Senior Center, Kewaunee Health and Fitness Center, the American Legion Auxiliary, and was an avid crafter and bingo player.
Jean was a quiet philanthropist discretely supporting many local organizations. She loved Kewaunee.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald in 2007, her parents, and her siblings. Survivors include nieces & nephews.
